observations

just some thoughts i've had lately... first of all - watching jay with gabe helps me understand why ALL children need a dad!! he plays games & throws gabe around in ways i'd never think to. sometimes my heart stops for a second...but gabe loves it. and NEEDS it! dads are rough, wild and crazy. gabe needs that as much as he needs my gentleness :) they are hilarious together. i wish everyone could watch. gabe is so brave! he goes right along with all of jays silliness. jay throws him around like he's an olympic athlete. those puff snacks for babies...so good! jay and i eat them more than gabe i think. no joke, last night i thought "i need a bowl of milk and i can make this into cereal." poor g. carrot baby food tastes like tomato soup. walmart diapers leak. it never fails if i get a basket to shop at a store...i need a buggy. snacking at fresh market is fabulous. mentos gum is the BEST. thanks mom! my mom is seriously the TOUGHEST human being i

dallas, sweet dallas!

i am writing this blog more for myself & gabe than anyone else. i want to remember every detail of our final adoption trip to dallas. so i figured blogging about it would help me "write" it down. my dad decided to skip this trip. BOOOOOO. so my mom, gabe, jay & i loaded my parents minivan and left town around 8:45pm tuesday, july 18. yes, 8pm. we figured we'd drive thru the night so gabe would sleep most of the trip! my mom is an animal. she has more energy than anyone...ever. jay likes to stay up late so we figured between the two of them we'd be fine going all night. notice i wasn't part of that equation at all. i'm worse than gabe. i think i even went to sleep before he did... the WORST idea i had was to take tylenol pm a couple hours into the trip. oh gosh. i don't sleep well on road trips so i thought some tylenol pm would put me out and i'd sleep like a champ! well, bad news. there's NO good place to sleep in that dang van. so i
been thinking lately about things i'm thankful someone invented...like pacifiers. here's more: hot water heaters candles dvr beach chairs sunscreen contacts (i hate wearing glasses) running shoes lamps - i hate overhead lights redbox ceiling fans - i know they are ugly but i cant sleep without one chapstick diet coke/diet dr pepper dunkin donuts french vanilla coffee crushed ice sharpies sugarless gum disposable diapers. sorry, just cant see myself washing cloth ones. i might vomit.  lotion. i cannot stand being ashy :) side note: an electrician just walked into my office with a headlamp on. awesome. my crazy brother wears one when he reads in bed at night. hahaha.  so here's a list of things i could/would eat without stopping: (except i'd get sick) trail mix donuts chips & salsa pizza peanut butter smores (with peanut butter) butter pecan ice cream waffles/pancakes captain wafers toast h
