just what i needed!

so this week we went to the beach for our staff retreat. it was EXACTLY what i needed after the craziness of moving. of course it started out a little chaotic. i got up wednesday morning, threw on my running shoes and squeezed 10 miles in before packing things up for the beach. i had myself and gabe all packed and ready. jay (of course) hadn't started packing and had a meeting that morning... jay has interesting timing with things. he has zero idea how long things take. i never listen to how long he says something will take. if he says an hour i know it'll at least be 2. so when he told me that morning he'd be ready to go by 12 or so i should've KNOWN it'd be later... he called me around 11:30. i was excited thinking he might be on his way home. not so much. he was at goodyear. his breaks were acting up. ugh. we dont typically take jays truck on trips. but we were planning on it this time because we wanted to deliver a doll house to his sister. jay said he'

moving & wallpaper = the devil

let me introduce you to "trailer kaci." last september jay & i were hauling a HUGE trailer slam full of luggage back from the TA retreat. Now keep in mind i was tired. my staff and i had just planned & lead a retreat for 180ish folks (mostly teens) and i was spent. but after stopping at our first red light and sliding side to side we realized something had to change... so several miles down the road we pulled over and decided we had to readjust the luggage. yep, move it. jay cant get in the trailer. he's too big and it's too full. so guess who had to climb in.... on my KNEES (in the middle of pillows, sleeping bags and luggage) i picked things up from one end of the trailer and threw it to the other side. yes, i am a beast. jay was amazed. so now when i pick up anything heavy or push through something extremely tough - jay refers to me as "trailer kaci." we also figured out this week my parents (mom especially) LIVES in "trailer"

thursday ramblings

wonderful morning for a long run. not sure where this weather came from but i'm diggin' it. i don't typically run rails to trails but i did today. amazingly i hit every traffic crossing at the perfect time. no cars! it was fun. the crossing guard by wynnton school told me to run an extra mile for her. i did not. when i left the house at 10:15am jay and gabe were both still in bed. love my boys! i'd already run 10 miles and enjoyed an hour of breakfast/quiet time before they even opened their eyes. i have a candle in my office that smells like vanilla cookies (whatever those are) and it makes me hungry. my mom baked cookies yesterday for the sweet family that is (hopefully, pretty positive!) going to buy our condo. jay ate all of them. i've learned a lot in this buying a house stuff. i've learned to paint trim carefully without painters tape. i've learned how to scrub baseboards and walls. i've enjoyed painting and laughing with friends and family

life

thank you tylenol pm...i slept like a pimp last night. i've learned that buying cheap running shoes is NOT a good choice. these crappy shoes have been killing me. today i wore old ones & only ran 7 miles. i feel much better. getting new shoes pronto.  why is it stupid hot already? i cant even imagine how hot it is going to be this summer. gross. i'm just going to sweat for 3 months carrying around gabe in this heat!  i like to think that carrying gabe around gives me extra muscles. but last time i went to the doctor they checked my blood pressure and at first it was like 68/40 or something insane! so (to make sure i wasnt half dead) we checked again later. my doctor said he needed to find the "kiddie cuff" to check me. that hurt. i thought i had some guns. jay has given me a couple topics to blog about. i can only remember one of his suggestions.  i told him that if i was mayor (or someone who could make the rules) i'd make some changes... f
