i am not really going to pick up where i left off from the first part of gabes story. i'm just going to list some of my favorite things about gabe & life with him...

- unexpected, never-ending gifts & hand-me-downs from friends and family. i am blown away!! i can't get over how loved we're feeling.

- i love watching friends hold gabe. it's sweet to see him steal their heart like he has ours. he's a charmer.

- watching jay laugh with/at gabe, sing to gabe, make up funny songs, change/feed/burp etc. and nap with gabe. PRECIOUS.

- i LOVE kissing gabe. i know i drive him insane. if he's in my arms, i'm kissing him. i cant help myself.

- i enjoy singing to him. not sure he appreciates it but it's fun anyway.

- tummy time is fun. again, not his favorite but we get to talk a lot so that's fun. (ok i talk...)

- i like how his head shakes real fast when he's going for his bottle. makes me laugh every time.

- bath time! super fun.

- i love seeing my family with him. it's really sweet to see them love on him. especially vasa & the girls!

- is it bad that i like that he's handsome?? b/c he is! he just gets cuter every day.

- i like middle of the night feedings. he's sleepy but still looks at me so sweetly.

- his smile & dimple = perfection.

i am so looking forward to every little part of his life. simple things like holding up his head, rolling over, smiling/laughing, clapping, etc. i am excited about it all.

my mom is honestly the most amazing woman i've ever known. i'm NOT exaggerating. she keeps him for us on tuesdays and wednesdays. so not only is gabe being loved on & taught...but she cleans my house. really?? what a blessing!!!!  i cannot get over how much mimi & poppy have done for us since gabe came along. (and before!)  they prayed with us when we were frightened and have held our hands through the first few weeks.

same can be said for josh & claire. we wouldn't be parents without their love & support. not sure why God decided to bless me with the most terrific family EVER...but i'm grateful.

i love knowing that gabe will grow up surrounded by people that love Jesus. i love watching my TAs love on him, talk to him and simply hang out around him. what a great life. he's going to get to see teenagers (around town and in his house!) talk about God, share their morals and worship. i love it.

his birth mom is one of the coolest parts of this journey for me. i look forward to sharing his life with her. i also get excited each time i get a letter for her from friends & family. i love knowing that she will be loved by us like gabe :)  my favorite line from her last email said this "i never believed in the plans of the Lord as much as i do now."   i pray she feels that every time we talk.

Realizing more & more about this move...

It's been just over 4 months since we left GA. I can't even begin to tell you all that these 4 months have brought. But I'm going to try... Leaving Columbus was hard. Leaving family was the worst. I'll never forget that last Sunday with my family. I'll never forget weeping through church sitting next to my family thinking "I can't leave them." I'll never forget crying...let's be honest...weeping the entire time I drove that Sunday afternoon. I cried most of Monday as well. i'm no expert

i do not claim to know ANYTHING about parenting. i've only been one 2.5 years and still text/call/email my mom and sister-in-law about everything. i'm pushing 36 so i'm not just out of high school either. but i have spent the last 15 years (between being a Young Life leader and working for Teen Advisors) walking through life with high school students and i've picked up on some things. i've mentioned some of these things before so forgive me if i repeat myself. the most important thing i've learned about teenagers - no matter how nerdy, popular, emo, cool, punkish, quiet, obnoxious, annoying they are - is that they desire CONSISTENCY. yep, they simply want someone to be consistent in their life. i have very little wisdom to share with the TAs i spend my time with. but i show up. i ask questions. i encourage them. sometimes i call them out on their foolishness. but i am THERE. so put your phone down, put away the computer, turn off the TV and spend tim

Lil update on us, Village Church and more

I just told Jay how much I love it here. I recently posted a blog about what the Lord has done in my heart here. I'm still not over it. My heart & mind feel as fresh as the mountain air. CHEESY but so very true and my heart is full. God has blown us away with His faithfulness. He is everywhere. He amazes me daily, hourly. He has helped Gabe's heart go from "I'm never leaving Columbus." back in May to "I hope we never leave Angel Fire, ever." I feel ya kid. I feel ya. Here's a few stories I wish I could tell each of you over coffee... One Friday night, a month ago or so, we made coffee and put out some snacks in preparation for our weekly service.
