thankfulness

i feel like i am the only person whose status every day in november isnt something i'm thankful for. so i figured i'd just go ahead and list my thankfuls on my blog... these are in no certain order and Lord knows i will leave things out. i'm skipping all the obvious things too (ex: family, jay, gabe, God, etc.)

random things i am thankful for:
the tea at countrys. so very good. (unsweet)
the person who created deodorant

christmas everything. i love it.
contacts. i would hate to have to wear my glasses all the time.
madison montgomery. best running buddy ever. i love that girl.
i dont have to dress up for church
the butter at texas roadhouse
gum
target
funny people
handwritten notes
when stores have hand sanitizer (especially when its just outside the bathroom door, brilliant!)
salad bars. really, i love 'em.
compression socks
the one beautiful yellow (during fall) tree the mads & i run by at least twice a week.
bites of jays food
uncommon athlete
really, really cold diet coke. the kind in a bottle with ice chunks it's so cold. nothing like it!
my pixie cut. it saves me soooooo much time.
laughter
yogurt
medicine. i'm not one of those who wont take it. i am especially thankful for my "happy pill."
football
a cool last name. i always wanted a first name for a last name, got it!
facebook. really, i am. its fun to me.
Gods creativity
did i mention madison?? :)  laughing with her on runs = one of my favorite joys in life.

can i say this...? that two people in texas "hooked up" and created the most amazing blessing i'll ever receive  
   oustide of Christ dying for me :)   yeah, i said it.
the smell of popcorn, waffles and coffee. (not all together.)
these movies: elf, the holiday, you've got mail. i can watch them over & over
GPS. seriously, how did we get anywhere before it? i cannot read a map...don't even hand me one.
gas-x. i should have stock in it.
texting. i hate talking on the phone.

good fitting jeans. very hard to come by.
natures own bread. i love it and eat way too much of it every day.

really good coffee. like dunkin donuts, cracker barrell, bens chophouse. not starbucks, sorry.
the food network. i love not having to worry about something sketch coming on.

Realizing more & more about this move...

It's been just over 4 months since we left GA. I can't even begin to tell you all that these 4 months have brought. But I'm going to try... Leaving Columbus was hard. Leaving family was the worst. I'll never forget that last Sunday with my family. I'll never forget weeping through church sitting next to my family thinking "I can't leave them." i'm no expert

i do not claim to know ANYTHING about parenting. i've only been one 2.5 years and still text/call/email my mom and sister-in-law about everything. i'm pushing 36 so i'm not just out of high school either. but i have spent the last 15 years (between being a Young Life leader and working for Teen Advisors) walking through life with high school students and i've picked up on some things. i've mentioned some of these things before so forgive me if i repeat myself. the most important thing i've learned about teenagers - no matter how nerdy, popular, emo, cool, punkish, quiet, obnoxious, annoying they are - is that they desire CONSISTENCY. yep, they simply want someone to be consistent in their life. i have very little wisdom to share with the TAs i spend my time with. but i show up. i ask questions. i encourage them. sometimes i call them out on their foolishness. but i am THERE. so put your phone down, put away the computer, turn off the TV and spend tim

Lil update on us, Village Church and more

I just told Jay how much I love it here. I recently posted a blog about what the Lord has done in my heart here. I'm still not over it. My heart & mind feel as fresh as the mountain air. CHEESY but so very true and my heart is full. God has blown us away with His faithfulness. He is everywhere. He amazes me daily, hourly. He has helped Gabe's heart go from "I'm never leaving Columbus." back in May to "I hope we never leave Angel Fire, ever." I feel ya kid. I feel ya.
