i love to laugh

things i've learned lately:
gabe is hilarious. he loves tools, cars and any toy that makes noise. the more obnoxious the better.

he also likes to dance with the "beat" of the washing machine, dryer and dishwasher.

his birth mom is delightful. (i knew that but am constantly reminded.) is it weird that i love her so much? i wanted to adopt her too the day we met her.

my husband is a nut. he works in the yard and swims in a tilly or tully hat? whatever it is, i laugh.

gabe is NOT afraid to jump in the pool, go under water or climb in & out of the pool. i, on the other hand, stay tense the entire time he is near a pool.

gabe + stuffed snake + buzzing noise = awesome. he is so.dang.funny.

compliments from my mom mean the world to me.

my nieces are AWESOME. addison had me laughing nonstop at her birthday party. here's some of our conversations:

me: "dd, what made you choose a baked potato bar instead of pancakes for your bday party this year?"

dd: "well, we are having pancakes on my real bday for breakfast. and i like potatoes, bacon, cheese and butter so i wanted this."

me: "well do you eat any protein besides bacon?"

dd: thoughtfully responded, "grits?!"

me: "no thats not a protein."

dd: "darn."

one more...

me: "what are you most excited about getting for your bday?"

dd: "a yellow 'bawl' i showed dad that i wanted."

me: "bawl, like a cereal bawl?"

dd: kicking her leg, "no like a bawl you kick."

me: "oh i thought you were saying bowl."

dd: "yeah, i need speech."

awesome.

gabe and i watched a video of vasa from the russian orphanage a couple times this week. gabe laughs and laughs watching vasa blow bubbles with josh. i almost cried. mom did.

gabe will just sit on our steps and look at vasa's picture. he really loves his cousin.

trail mix really is like crack to me. i had to control myself at the staff retreat.

more staff retreat thoughts...

we have the most amazing staff. it's true.

we laugh A LOT. we get along extremely well.

the majority of our staff has at least one tattoo. trust me that aaron wall isnt one of them. he turns pale just talking about needles.

we all really love food. eating it and simply talking about it.

we all LOVE guacamole and get really sad when its gone.

retreat brownies are also like crack.

derik is a great boss. very peaceful. he really has done an awesome job of making this years transitions easy. we were all so nervous but it has been great.

the girls on staff cry a lot.

anna & caleb are the best at "know your boo."

somebody could make millions by opening a legit seafood restaurant at navarre beach.

thinking of others more than yourself is harder than you think! we did a cool thing for our pancake breakfast the last morning. we cooked, served and ate breakfast together but we couldn't do anything for ourselves. you REALLY have to pay attention to others...like constantly! i'd get somebody butter and forget syrup, etc. what a cool exercise. i've decided us lesleys are going to do that one night a week as a family.

thanks to DeeDee i'm actually living the truth that i do not have to worry about anything! she taught us a Bible study on Matthew 6 and i have put it into practice everyday since. what freedom that truth brings!!

other things i'm learning:
pushing a jogging stroller is no joke.

burpees are seriously evil.

jay always speaks to me in a respectful, kind way and i love that about him.

i keep jays snack drawer at work filled...mainly so i can hit it up when i go to CCC.

luke smith makes me laugh very hard. we had him over for supper the other night and it was delightful. that's not new news... i've known that i just was reminded :)  i was also reminded how much gabe loves his uncle poopie. he let luke hold him for like 30 mins. we don't even get that!

i told gabe i loved him last night and then asked if he could say "love you." he did (in his own way.) i almost cried.

running with a 19 year old guy isnt fair. i'm 34 and a girl. he is fast.

i cannot believe tomorrow is june. what the?!  6 months til christmas. YEEEEEET!!!! i love christmas.

i also love college football. have i ever mentioned that?! haha. we've got like 90 days til kickoff. amen.

oh last thing. i watched a 20/20 special on royal babies. what the mess. they use cotton balls to wipe royal butts. cotton balls?! thats gross. get some wipes.  they also go to school for 3 years to be royal nannies. oh gosh, i knew for 2 weeks before getting gabe that we were getting gabe...haha. umm - jay had never changed a diaper. oopsy.

they also chose like 6 godparents for their kids. G doesn't have one. oopsy.

i guess thats all i've got.
