jay

i know that i probably drive folks crazy missing jay when he is away. i know that these 8-11 day mission trips are a breeze compared to what army families deal with...let alone single parents.

but here's why i think it's ok for me to miss jay...  he's my husband :) it'd be sad if i didn't miss him, right?!

so until he gets home tomorrow and starts leaving his shoes/clothes laying around and making loud mouth noises... let me share some reasons why he is a husband/dad/friend that is missed...

he sets the tone for our house...and its a happy, godly place.
he loves us well.
he is extremely patient.
he is super easy to get along with.
he cares about people.
he takes care of our cars, takes the trash & recycling out :)
he wrestles with gabe. (poor kid asks me every night...i don't understand or enjoy rough-housing!)
he greets us both every morning and evening with a smile and kind words.
he shares bites of his food with us.
he fills our home with laughter.
he reads scripture to us daily and prays over us daily.
he takes care of bath time!
he thanks me for making breakfast and cooking supper every time.
he carries heavy things.
he makes the bed most days. (except saturday - its "don't make the bed day")
he sings and plays guitar and its sweet.
he watches silly truck shows. but he thinks my cooking shows are silly.
he says what he means and means what he says with gabe. his yes is yes and his no is no.
he calls me out when i'm being fleshy, selfish or trying to take control away from God.
he listens to God and obeys Him.
he leads our small group on tuesdays in a humble way.
he is gentle.
he is kind.
he is funny!
he's not preachy or judgmental. yet he speaks the truth.
he makes angels on my side of the bed so i don't have to feel cold sheets :)
he makes sure we know that we are loved, protected and adored.

what.a.guy.

let's be real. there are things i'm not ready for...
- smacking
- hearing him chew
- leaving shoes, clothes, papers laying around.
- hearing his email/texts ring tone every 3 seconds.
- he sometimes forgets where the dishwasher door is and leaves stuff on the counter.
- he takes a really long time to poop.
- he squirts his cologne and it gives me a headache. (homegirl doesn't do strong scents.)

i could continue with funny jay-isms. but i won't. bottom line -

gabe and i hit the jackpot. we know it. we are thankful. we are counting down the hours til we see his sweet face, hear his precious voice and have a big family hug!!!!

hurry home jay. you are missed.
