my mom

i love making lists. and i love my mom. so i thought i'd make a list of reasons i love my mom. (in no particular order)

- she loves the Lord with her whole heart. she's always learning, growing, and studying His Word.
- she is energetic. she has more energy than i do and she's 27 years older than me.
- she LOVES food. we text each other when we eat a good meal. most of the time with a picture. my dad and her (along with friends) will travel JUST TO EAT. she's hardcore.
- she sent my brother out to buy a birthday cake right before either a tornado or hurricane. not sure which. it wasn't antibody's birthday. she just wanted a sheet cake.
- she can out eat ANY man i know. true story. (yet she's little. so.very.unfair.)
- she encourages me in my faith.
- she prays. a lot.
- she loves tea and diet coke like i do. (maybe i love it like she does...makes more sense!)
- she is the worlds greatest MiMi (grandmother)
- she makes me laugh
- she is one of the most generous people i know.
- she cooked a delicious homemade supper every night growing up. 6pm we all ate together.
- she also had a warm breakfast for josh and i every morning. she's taught school so she was busy in the mornings too! but we always had something good. never cereal or pop tarts.
- she was always fun to play with during summer break. she would swim with us. i always liked that.
- she laughs at everything josh and i say/do. she's our biggest fans.
- she was/is an amazing teacher. she loved her students so much. we felt like we knew them all each year b/c she shared about their victories throughout the year.
- she used to play the piano sometimes at St Mark and would give us the "stank eye" if we were acting up during church. hahaha.
- she dresses cute and she's beautiful. she just doesnt think so. kinda sad.
- she is REALLY good at games. card games or board games. like annoyingly good.
- she loves her mom and sister so much. i love that. i love that she is close to my aunt. i've never had a sister but they make it look fun!
- she loves my dad. she doesn't say things that dishonor him. i like that. now - we will jank on his crazy self...but he shoots it right back.
- she shares her purses with me.
- she is fun to shop with.
- she has never said anything to make me worry about my appearance. i didn't realize until i started working with teenagers how rare that is! she's never told me i needed makeup, or better clothes, or different hair. ever. thank you mom.
- she still takes care of me when i am sick.
- she makes the best pb&j on the planet. what is it about moms?!
- she also makes the best homemade (from scratch) chocolate cake and icing. YUM.
- she loves to travel. i like that about her.
- she's never been embarrassing. ha poor gabe. he wont be able to say the same!
- she keeps a clean house. and keeps MY house clean. let me get an AMEN!
- she is creative and crafty. not like dork crafty. but the kind that is useful. ha!
- she almost always has hummus in her fridge and PB in her pantry. thank you.
- she wraps gifts really well. lawd knows i dont.

things i'll always love and remember about mom:
- how sweet she always smells after taking a bath at night. i used to love to jump in bed with her. she always smelled so good and clean and was so soft!
- every thurs night at 8pm we had diet coke and popcorn while watching the cosby show
- we used to get an orange Julius (wayyyyy back in the day!) almost every time we went to the mall as kids. yum.
- she loves the beach like i do. (again maybe i love it like she does!)  she is PERFECT to go to the beach with. we take an umbrella, chairs, cooler (full of diet cokes!), books/kindle, sunscreen and we're good from 9-5!
- when i'm sad, scared, lonely, upset, happy, no matter the emotion...she's the FIRST person i want to talk to.
- her hugs make things ok.
- she allows me to be myself. no matter what that means. i am so thankful for that.
- her words (whether she likes it or not!) carry so much weight with me. i still have a tiny piece of scrap paper that she wrote "i love you" on from like 15 years ago.
- she serves nonstop. she does SO many things that people never know. i admire that in her. just this weekend she made several pies for someone, a meal for a family and baked a cinnamon cake for the people that serve her at burger king every morning. (it is their job! but she still served them.)
- she stayed up all night driving me, jay and gabe to texas when we went back for the court adoption stuff. she is a beast.
- she had a tough life growing up but she never acts like a victim.
- she would rub our heads when we would lay in her lap at church when we were little.

i know i could keep listing forever. and i wanted to share so many funny stories. i love her so much. i wish everyone could know her like i do.

- jay is my husband and i share everything with him. but i can't lie...

my mom is my very best friend.
